German also earned the prestigious Masters Degree in Advanced Fencing from the Higher Institute of Physical Culture in Havana.
For fifteen years, German was Head Coach of the City of Havana's famed fencing team. German also was the President of the Fencing Federation of the City of Havana. During his distinguished coaching tenure in Cuba, German's students won six National Cuban Championships and earned 114 national individual and team medals. Following his Cuban successes, German was Head Coach in all three weapons (foil, epee & saber) for the Mexican State of Baja, California. During this time, German's fencers won two Mexican National Championships, garnered 23 Mexican national individual and team medals, and won 29 individual medals in major United States tournaments. German served as a member of the FIE Technical Committees for the 2001 and 2002 "Villa de la Habana" World Cups, and was a member of the FIE Organizing Committee for the 2002 World Fencing Championships.
In the summer of 2011, German accepted the head coaching position at the Naples Fencing Center (now Naples Fencing Academy) in Florida. Students at Naples Fencing Academy are fortunate to benefit from German's years of experience and his passion for the sport of fencing. With German as their coach, the sky's the limit for the next generation of champion fencers.
