Class Descriptions
Beginner
In the beginner class, students learn the fundamentals of fencing such as the en guard position, simple attacks, counter attacks, parries, ripostes, basic footwork, and fencing theory. The class includes exercises to develop hand-eye coordination and overall fitness. Bouting is also introduced.
Intermediate
The intermediate class is for students who have completed the beginner class, and is the next step toward becoming a competitive fencer. Intermediate students learn offensive and defensive drills, as well as more advanced tactics and strategy.
Competitive
The Competitive (advanced) class is for students who have completed the beginner and intermediate class, and includes more complicated offensive and defensive drills, as well as advanced tactics and strategy. At this point, students are introduced to electric fencing and tournament-style bouting. Students at this level may attend local, regional, national and even international tournaments.
