Reasons to consider fencing
If you have never witnessed fencing live, we invite you to come observe coach German Paz and our elite competition team in a fast-paced, exciting sport that is every bit as much a mental game as it is a physical one. In fact, fencing has been referred to as "chess at 90 miles per hour!"
Fencing is great for any gender or age group, with classes for everyone from beginner youth and adult, all the way to the competitive level, with competitions held locally, nationally, and internationally. Fencing increases hand-eye coordination and fosters critical thinking, as it challenges both body and mind to achieve new mental and physical goals.
Several of our past students have gone on to fence at the collegiate level at prestigious schools such as the University of North Carolina, Notre Dame, the University of Florida, Duke University and the United States Air Force academy. Most of the top academic colleges and universities in the US have high-ranking fencing teams.
If you (or your child) haven’t really found your niche in mainstream sports such as basketball, baseball, football, soccer or lacrosse, and you like the idea of a unique sport that combines athleticism with mental acuity and is indoor and climate-controlled, then fencing may very well be for you!
Fencing is also a wonderful sport for building self-confidence. The most shy and timid beginner fencers are often transformed into fearless competitors. Fencing is an all-inclusive sport, and success is not dependent on age, size or gender.
